More Info:  "Bundu or Sowie Mask of Sierra Leone" is a wooden mask handmade in Sierra Leone, West Africa.  This tribal mask represents the secret society of women located in Sierra Leone. The design on the side of the head is cords running down the head and upwards to the top of the head. It features a double-sided carved face with sculpted band.

This extremely rare piece features a spiritual woman on top referred to as Mami Wata (Mama Water) or La Sirene, is a water sprit venerated in West African Vodun, Haitian Vodou and also recognized in the Caribbean, Cuban and Brazilian mythology.
